With interest in developing an Urban forest Management Plan to better manage our Town's natural assets, we need YOUR help to collect a basic tree inventory of the trees in town.
Simply browse the map to discover local species or sign-up, login, and add a tree to the map. Activities that are now permitted include hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods, but people are asked to remain cautious. The province wide burn ban is still in place. The fine for violating the ban is $25,000. In accordance with Provincial direction, the Town of Mahone Bay has closed the wooded areas of Jubilee Park and the adjacent Town-owned woodland to all public use until further notice, due to heightened fire risk. Provincial trails including the Bay-to-Bay and Dynamite Trail have also been closed to the public. The sports field, ballfield and Tiny Tots playground remain open to the public. Please share this message with other residents. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact the Town Office.
