We want to know what you think!
The Strategic Plan is a document which defines the objectives and direction of this Council (2020 - 2024) in which key objectives and actions are identified. Town Council has reviewed the information that we have gathered from all of the Public Engagement that we have been doing over the past few years and they have worked with a consultant to create a Draft Town of Mahone Bay 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, but now we want to know what you think. You can review the draft document on our website to see what you think. There will then be a Public Information Meeting on May 3rd to present and discuss the draft document. To participate in the Public Information, click the link above to join the zoom session. The meeting will be recorded and posted on the Town's website for anyone who is not able to participate that time. On May 10th at 7pm there will be a Public Hearing at which time Council will receive comments from the Public on the Draft Strategic Plan. To submit comments to the Public Hearing, to make arrangements to present your comments live (remotely) to the meeting, or if you have any questions about the process, please contact Maureen Hughes, Town Clerk & Deputy CAO at 902-624-8327 [email protected] The Draft Strategic Plan will go to Council for consideration on the May 11, 2021 regular meeting of Mahone Bay Town Council.
![]() Please note that the Town Hall drop box has moved to the Mahone Bay Fire Hall at 184 Kinburn Street while the front of Town Hall is a construction zone. Please respect the signs to stay away from the front of Town Hall - it is an active work site and your safety is very important to us. On Wednesday, March 31st at 7pm the Town of Mahone Bay will co-host an online panel discussion with the South Shore Chapter of The Council of Canadians.
The topic is "Inequality and a Just Recovery". As we move toward a COVID free world, how can municipalities better respond to issues such as poverty, climate change, discrimination, affordable housing, transportation and a sustainable local economy? Join us live on our YouTube channel to join the discussion, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW1IRlgVqIPM-QZqe4oZHuA Are you interested in Mahone Bay's Built Heritage? The Town of Mahone Bay's Heritage Advisory Committee is seeking two citizens of the Town to join their group.

We want to talk to you about the possibilities for this space. Check out the Parks + Greenspaces page on our website, https://www.townofmahonebay.ca/parks--greenspaces.html for information on what has already happened and to learn how to join the discussion about what other updates would make this special space even better! We are excited to present a Draft Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Action Plan for community engagement and review before the plan returns to Council for approval.
Over the past year, the Town has been collecting data related to greenhouse gas emissions and has worked closely with Town partners to model the Town’s emissions profile and develop preliminary action items and targets to propel the Town towards a carbon neutral future. We hope that you’ll join us for a Virtual Open House session via zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83302257915 on March 10th, at 7pm for an overview of the Plan followed by time for your questions and comments. This session will be recorded to view at a later date. Additionally, the Draft Plan can be viewed on the Town website: https://www.townofmahonebay.ca/electric-utility.html where comments can also be submitted. If you live in the Service Area for the Mahone Bay and District Fire Department, go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5MMDNMG and tell us which colour the new fire station should be!
The survey will only be open for a week so be sure to let us know your preference! |
