Arts and Culture

The cultural scene is lively in Mahone Bay and surrounding area. Mahone Bay is home to several textile artists whose work is known world-wide and who offer workshops in quilting, weaving, rug-hooking, felting. Painters and printmakers work collaboratively or in private studios throughout town. Local artisans produce and sell such items as jewellry, wood carvings, pottery and pewter housewares.

Residents and visitors may have difficulty deciding whether to attend a poetry reading, a book launch, a concert, a play, music at the bandstand, a film or a discussion group. Music ensembles can be enjoyed as a participant or from the audience. Annual folk art and folk music festivals are held nearby. There is always a course or workshop available in creative writing, visual arts, dance or drama.
